Shelley
has been practicing conflict resolution since the earliest days of her career as a Social Worker in 2001. Conflict management was a responsibility in each of her professional roles, as well as volunteer engagements. Her diverse background has provided meaningful experience in a variety of areas ranging from family to commercial and community dispute resolution. As a senior leader, and as both an internal and external consultant, Shelley has had the opportunity to garner experience across a number of industries and organizational cultures to provide pragmatic solutions that work in everyday life. At this point, she has more than 20 years building expertise, solutions, systems, teams, and trainings to meet the needs of the individuals involved.
Shelley founded Allen Conflict Solutions, LLC in 2019 after her diverse, successful career afforded her the opportunity to transition and focus her skills on her favorite part of the work; where people, problem-solving, and relationship intersect. Shelley now leverages her expertise in conflict management and relationship building to help others find constructive agreement through facilitation, mediation, coaching, training, team building. She also supports and equips others as an adjunct Professor for Pepperdine University’s Caruso School of Law in the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution.
Additionally, Shelley has been consistently dedicated to volunteer engagements in a variety of environments. Currently, she volunteers with Centinela Youth Services, Inc. and is a member of the American Bar Association, as well as Southern California Mediators’ Association. Given her personal and professional background that includes social services, she is drawn to working with vulnerable populations and the organizations or systems intended to support them; particularly systems with at-risk members. Regardless of the area she’s operating in, Shelley leans toward intentional empathy and practical solutions through Transformative Restorative Practices.
Shelley is grateful for the benefit of an excellent, relevant education. She had the remarkable opportunity to attend Pepperdine University Caruso School of Law and earn two Master’s degrees; a Master’s in Dispute Resolution and a Master’s in Legal Studies with an emphasis in Employment Law. She also holds a BA in Business and Human Resources Management from Simpson University. These degrees are in addition to multiple certifications including Facilitating Restorative Practice Conferences and Facilitating Restorative Practice Circles from the International Institute for Restorative Practices Graduate School.
